About

Hello!

This is Ifeoluwa Siddiq Oyelami, commonly referred to by his middle name, Siddiq.

I am a doctoral candidate at the department of Basic Islamic Sciences, Erciyes University, Turkey. After completing my thesis on an overview of Abdullah ibn Fodio’s life and work titled Diyāʾ-l-Taʾwīl fī Maʿān-l-Tanzīl, I received my Master of Arts from the same department in 2020. I received a BA (Ed) in Islamic studies from the University of Ilorin in Nigeria in 2015 and was inducted into the teaching profession by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). In addition to being a doctoral candidate in Islamic sciences, I am also a psychology student at the International Open University (IOU).

There are four essential activities in my life: learning, teaching, reading, and writing. And yeah, I do some editorial jobs too. I learn using various media, including traditional classrooms, exploration, and online classes. Teaching…although I am an Islamic studies teacher, most of my teaching experience has been about ESL to Turkish students. However, education in all its forms has always been my top interests. As such, I keep up with the latest research and news across various academic disciplines.

My writings also encompass a wide range of subjects, including Islam, education, psychology, culture, history, politics, and language. My primary academic interests, however, are Quranic studies, Islamic Education, the History of Tafsir, 19th-century Sokoto literature, and radical interpretation. You can view some of my academic publications here, and my opinion pieces on this page (and here for Turkish writeups).

I am multilingual and a freelance translator. I also serve as the editorial assistant of a multilingual, pro-Islamic media website. I have social ties, albeit in different capacities, with several NGOs and social and student organisations in Nigeria and Turkey.
