Now, we only miss calls

I was travelling with my brother one day, and we noticed we had missed a turn after about an hour. Thanks to Google, we found our way through some farmsteads. My brother, wowed by the situation, was like, “We are lucky to be living in this era; it is just the best era so far.” He went on to praise the communication system, but to me, this is a no-no….🤔

For me, modern communication has unravelled some of life’s sweetest emotions. The emotional power of departure, entwined with the bittersweet feeling of unknown destinies, has been replaced by the cold efficiency of instant messages. The once-eager anticipation of receiving a heartfelt letter from a distant loved one has faded into “pings” and “beeps.”. In this era, genuine connections seem to wane, and the depth of appreciation for one another is fast disappearing. For scarcity places value…

Meanwhile, I completed my argument by stating, “If it were in the past, we would not have located our path through Google, but rather by the guidance of the shepherds around, who would have offered us some fresh milk.” 😊

Talking about communication, I once bought a vintage book, in which I saw an exchange between two lovers. He drew out his hand on the last page of the book, hoping she would place hers on it? The words accompanied by it make more sense than the “You did not even say good morning” that today’s lovers get. Oh! Not only lovers but friends; “you did not even ‘check on me.’ Come on, if I have to check on everyone, I will not have time left to check on myself. I will also want extra time to not miss the moment on social media—another modern communication woe.🤐

You know what? If not for modern communication, I wouldn’t be writing this. One, this wouldn’t be a topic. Two, perhaps I would be writing something better with good handwriting by the light of my oil lamp, hoping some serious folks would read the treatise. ✍️ Oh! Or maybe I would just be writing some poems on the problems of communication of that time, too.

I completely agree with your thoughts on how modern communication has changed the way we connect. There’s something truly special about the anticipation of receiving a heartfelt letter or the genuine emotions tied to those moments of waiting.

I often wish we could turn back time and experience that depth of connection again, but it’s clear that’s not possible in today’s fast-paced world. Your post really highlights how we’ve lost some of the magic and value in our interactions.

Thanks for reminding us of the richness of the past and helping us appreciate the depth behind those old-fashioned forms of communication. It’s a beautiful reflection on how much has changed.
